Hong Kong: CIEP Hong Kong Parallel Session Open

From April 17th to 18th, 2019, the parallel session of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the 17th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) was opened at Hong Kong Science Park. Through a series of activities, it built a platform for school-enterprise matching and industry-university-research integration, providing new horizons, new ideas, and new ways for talent exchange and cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Opening Ceremony and Summit Forum

At 9:00 am on April 17th, the opening ceremony of the 17th CIEP Hong Kong Parallel Session and the “Gathering Hong Kong and Macao Talents and Creating a Flourishing Greater Bay Area” Summit Forum were grandly opened in Hong Kong Science Park. Deng Xiaojun, Deputy Director of the CIEP Organizing Committee Office, Michael Hui, former Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Yvonne Wong, Chairman of the Hong Kong United Youth Science and Technology Association, Xu Fang, Senior Vice President of TCL, Xiang Kaixiang, Branch Manager of the Prudential Group, and Zhang Haidong, President of Elanw attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Deng Xiaojun said in his speech that the conference adhered to the tenet of Cooperation, Innovation, Development”, to consolidate the idea that talents were the foundation of scientific and technological innovation. The conference had 9 major sections and 26 items. This year is the second year of the conference to set up a parallel session in Hong Kong. As one of the core cities of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, Hong Kong has international high-level talents in many fields. The Hong Kong parallel session has invited many universities, research institutes, and enterprises from the Mainland to participate, aiming to achieve cross-regional cooperation and complementary advantages, further promote talent exchange and cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland, and provide a strong talent guarantee for China's economic and social development and intellectual support.

Later, Michael Hui, Xu Fang, and Yvonne Wong, as special guests, held the themed sharing and roundtable discussions, focusing on the theme of “Gathering Hong Kong and Macao Talents and Creating a Flourishing Greater Bay Area”, and jointly explored the road to talent development in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao.

Exchange Meeting on Advanced Talent Projects

Postdoctoral Workstation Promotion Meeting

At 13:30 on April 17th, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Hong Kong) Exchange Meeting on Advanced Talent Projects and Postdoctoral Workstation Promotion Meeting were held. The exchange meeting organized representatives of nearly 100 outstanding enterprises, especially those in high-tech and pillar industries, providing 220 masters and PhDs of Hong Kong colleges and universities present at the meeting with the opportunities for work exchange and project matching.

Visits to and Exchange at Hong Kong Universities and Enterprises

On April 18th, nearly 90 participants visited some famous institutions, institutions and enterprises in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Legislative Council, the Hong Kong Productivity Council, SenseTime, City University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to discuss issues of advanced talent supply and demand, specific talent training, etc.. They also had an in-depth study of the history and operational models of Hong Kong’s famous enterprises, for new ideas and new ways for the development of Mainland enterprises.
