Shenzhen Delegation with Fruitful Results from CEOT

On December 20th, Zeng Xuelian, Deputy Director of the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of  Shenzhen Municipality, led a delegation to Guangzhou to participate in the Conference on Exchange of Overseas Talents (CEOT) 2017 and the 19th Guangzhou Conference of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology, to promote the innovation and entrepreneurship environment in Shenzhen and to learn the experience of organizing CEOT. 70 people participated in this commission, who were representatives of the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (AFEA), the Personnel and Talent Center, and the Center for International Exchange Personnel of Shenzhen Municipality, relevant departments of Nanshan, Bao’an, Longhua, Pingshan, Guangming, and other districts, the Overseas Chinese High-tech Venture Park, and enterprises.

The Shenzhen Municipality and Nanshan, Pingshan, and Guangming Districts set up the Shenzhen exhibition booth in the exhibition venue with a total area of 550 square meters. Various sections were set up, covering the Peacock Plan, the innovation and entrepreneurship policies for overseas Chinese students, the conference on exchange of talents, and the policies for overseas high-level talents of each district. They fully demonstrated the innovative measures and achievements of the international talent cooperation and exchanges in Shenzhen, and promoted the cultural environment, the innovation and entrepreneurship environment, and the policies on talent introduction of Shenzhen. On the day of the opening ceremony, the exhibition booth received Tang Tao, Vice-Minister of Human Resources and Social Security, Lin Shaochun, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Executive Deputy Governor, and Huang Hanbiao, Chief of Guangdong Department of Human Resources and Social Security. Deputy Director Zeng and Deng Xiaojun, Director of Shenzhen AFEA, introduced the relevant situations of the innovation and entrepreneurship by overseas Chinese students in Shenzhen, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship International Competition (IEIC), and the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) to the leaders and guests, who gave full affirmation.

As one of the highlights, Shenzhen Institute of Technology (SZIT) attracted the attention of visiting leaders and guests. In addition to the exhibition, Li Wei, Dean of SZIT, was also invited to attend the launching ceremony of the “Vocational Education Alliance of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” with representatives from more than 30 well-recognized vocational education institutions such as Hong Kong Vocational Training Council, the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau of Macau, and Guangdong Technician Institute.

The newly established Shenzhen Center for International Exchange Personnel undertook the organization and services of the Shenzhen delegation. They organized Zhaopin.com, Elanw, Qianhai Think Tank, and the partner organizations to highlight the upcoming 16th CIEP in Shenzhen next April. They also exchanged with some exhibitors and invited them to gather in Shenzhen next April for the event of gathering global talents. At the same time, the center carefully observed and summarized the experience of the organization, investment promotion, and on-site layout of CEOT, for the preparation of CIEP next year.

The Shenzhen delegation at this year’s CEOT achieved fruitful results, with more than 800 overseas talents visiting the exhibition booth. They vigorously promoted the innovation and entrepreneurial environment in Shenzhen, introduced CIEP and IEIC, and learned the experience of holding CEOT. Besides, Nanshan, Pingshan, and Guangming exhibition booths successfully approached nearly 100 overseas talents who had entrepreneurial projects and were willing to settle in Shenzhen. Among them, the Guangming exhibition booth successfully attracted more than 30 participants who were invited to visit Shenzhen and discuss for cooperation.

It is understood that the theme of this year’s CEOT was “Wisdom, Innovation, Win-win”. The conference consisted of six core sections, namely the opening ceremony and summit forum, achievement display and transaction, project exchange, talent recruitment, promotion and release, and field visits. It was attended by high-level talents from overseas, including well-known academicians from Europe, the United States, and the Commonwealth of Independent States, experts from the “Thousand Talents Program”, and finalists of “Chunhui Cup”, and the “Smart Future Contest” with their projects. It was also attended by thousands of people from universities, research institutes, and enterprises across the country.
