The Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel Provided Assistance in the Establishment of the Overseas Doctors and Postdoctors Talent Working Alliance

On October 28, the themed conference of the “1st Hundred Overseas Doctors and Postdoctors' Visit to Guangdong”, jointly sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province and the Guangdong Overseas-educated Scholars Association-Guangdong Western Returned Scholars Association, was held in Guangzhou. Wang Xunzhang, former Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Guangdong Provincial Committee & President of the Guangdong Overseas-educated Scholars Association-Guangdong Western Returned Scholars Association, and Gong Guoping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group & Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, respectively delivered a speech. The conference was presided over by Lao Zhihong, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province & Director of Guangdong Provincial Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, and nearly 400 people attended the conference, including one hundred overseas doctors and postdoctors, and representatives from provincial directly-controlled units, local science and technology departments and relevant scientific research institutions and enterprises.

According to Deputy Director Gong Guoping during his speech, the event “Experts from Overseas to Guangdong” serves as a significant measure launched by Guangdong for the purpose of enhancing international exchange and cooperation in science and technology and attracting international high-end talents. Since 2009, it has been consecutively held for more than 70 sessions where over 5,000 overseas experts are allowed to have match-making via the platform of the event, enabling the successful settlement of a number of scientific and technological achievements and talent programs in Guangdong Province. Themed with “Entering the Greater Bay Area and Experiencing the Power of Innovation”, this event aims to build an exchange and cooperation platform between overseas doctors & postdoctors and universities, scientific research institutions, and provincial key labs, among others, in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. By virtue of carrying out activities in various forms such as themed forum discussion, talent exchange and project match-making, and investigation of innovation & entrepreneurship environment, it aims to allow overseas doctors and postdoctors to get a glimpse of the advanced innovation & entrepreneurship environment in Guangdong Province, and generally encourage them to find a job or start business in Guangdong, carry out cooperation and exchange, and share development benefits.

At the conference, as the supporting unit for international personnel and intellectual exchange cooperation and service personnel innovation & entrepreneurship, the Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel together with 10 high-end foreign (overseas) personnel organizations and professional societies and academies sponsored and established the Guangdong Provincial Overseas Doctors and Postdoctors Talent Working Alliance, with a view to jointly developing a new bond for linking the overseas doctors and postdoctors and new brands with a focus on serving overseas doctors and postdoctors.
