Chinese New Year Greeting Letter to Foreign Experts in Shenzhen
Dear foreign experts and friends,
As the Chinese lunar year ends, we have witnessed the exit of the golden tiger and the most welcome entrance of the jade rabbit. A prosperous, healthy and exciting new year to our friends, foreign experts and their families is the wish of The Science, Technology and Innovation Commission of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs).
The year 2022 was a very important year. We have been studying the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, fully implement the strategy for invigorating China through science and education, the workforce development strategy, and the innovation-driven development strategy, andmove faster to build world hubs for talent and innovation. Shenzhen invested 168.2 billion yuan in research and development, accounting for 5.49% of GDP. The number of national high-tech enterprises is beyond 23,000, attracting more than 6.6 million talents. Moreover, the innovation ability of Shenzhen has ranked first among national innovative cities for 3 consecutive years. Shenzhen was selected as the pilot city for the identification standards of foreign “high-quality and top-notch talent” to broaden the identification standards for foreigners working in China. Shenzhen continuously optimizes the “one-stop” processing of work and residence permitsto simplify the procedures. Wehave established seven workstations for foreigners’ work permit in China at district and sub-district levels to improve the quality and efficiency of foreign expert service in an all-round way. The 20th Conference on International Exchange of Professionals was held successfully online, attracting nearly 50,000participants. Through various exhibitions and matchmaking activities, more than 6,300 pieces of informationabout talent and project supply and demand were released. Shenzhen has given strong support to international scientific and technological innovation cooperation and international talent exchange, aiming to enable foreign experts to “come to Shenzhen easily and conveniently, and stay in Shenzhen with good career and development prospects”.
Foreign experts are “messengers of friendship”, and a key link between China and the rest of the world. In 2023, as a pilot demonstration area, Shenzhen will implement a more favorable, open and effective talent policy, strive to grow as a city of aspiration and dream for global talents, attract more talents to rush forward, and speed up the development towards a technological and industrial innovation hub with global influence.
