Gathering Elite Talents, Blossoming Diverse Activities–Highlights of Foreign Talent Series Events in the First Half of 2023
In the first half of 2023, with the support of leaders at all levels, the Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel successfully held a wide range of rich and diverse activities for foreign talents, attracting experts and talents around the globe and injecting new impetus into international exchanges and cooperation for Shenzhen.
"The Impression of Longgang, the Technological Innovation of Shenzhen" Spring Festival Seminar for Foreign Experts
On January 13, 2023, co-hosted by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province (the Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs of Guangdong Province), the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs), and the People’s Government of Longgang District, “The Impression of Longgang, the Technological Innovation of Shenzhen” Spring Festival Seminar for Foreign Experts was held at the Twenty-Four History Academy in Longgang District. Fifteen foreign experts from countries including Russia, Germany, and India were gathered to celebrate the Lunar New Year and discuss the future vision.
2023 Foreign Talent Tennis Tournament
On March 11, 2023, co-hosted by the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) and Shenzhen Bao’an District Human Resources Bureau, the Shenzhen Foreign Talent Tennis Tournament was held at the Tennis Stadium of Bao’an Sports Centre, attracting twelve foreign players from countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, France, Sweden to join in.
Expat Service Fair of the 21st CIEP
From April 15 to 16, 2023, co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs) and the People’s Government of Shenzhen Municipality, the 21st Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) was successfully held at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. Spanning two days, the Expat Service Fair of the 21st CIEP presented a comprehensive and innovative range of content, including “talent, technology, recruitment, culture, and cuisine”, with a bilingual (Chinese and English) design. This remarkable event captivated massive visitors and facilitated interactive exchanges, providing both Chinese and foreigners with a firsthand experience of its diverse and internationally integrated features. Moreover, the cultural exchanges and artistic performances held in various communities were charismatic, encompassing Belarusian straw art, Brazilian football activities, South African gold and diamond exhibitions, Italian wine tastings, Russian Matryoshka dolls and children's solo performances of folk songs, Turkish coffee demonstrations, Japanese matcha tea ceremonies, Polish speciality cakes, Indian traditional hand-painting experiences, Latin American band performances, Brazilian samba dances, lion dances, face-changing performances, and taekwondo demonstrations. The inclusive, open, and multicultural atmosphere in the communities injected new energy into attracting more international talents to settle in Shenzhen.
Bao’an District Traditional Cultural Experience for Foreign Talent
On April 15, 2023, hosted by Shenzhen Bao’an District Human Resources Bureau, the Bao’an District Traditional Cultural Experience for Foreign Talent was held at the Expat Service Fair of the 21st Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP). Chinese traditional art masters, who specialize in art-style character calligraphy, round fans, paper-rolling, sugar painting, and clay figurines, were invited to interpret the history, forms, and techniques behind these traditional crafts to foreign visitors.
"Crossing Borders, Gathering in Baoan" 2023 International Talent Cycling Exchange Event
On May 20, 2023, hosted by Shenzhen Bao’an District Human Resources Bureau, the “Crossing Borders, Gathering in Bao’an” 2023 International Talent Cycling Exchange Event was successfully held. Six foreign talents from Canada, Pakistan, Iran, Nigeria, Gambia, and Singapore, along with eight overseas returnee talents, were gathered at Bao’an Lixinhu Park to engage in cycling along the ecological lakeside.

On June 2, 2023, co-hosted by the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs), the People’s Government of Longhua District, and Shenzhen People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, “The Brilliant Charm of Longhua, the Sci-Tech Innovation of Shenzhen” Foreign Experts’ Tour in Guanlan Print Village was held at the Guanlan original printmaking base, twelve foreign experts from countries including the United States, Brazil, Russia, were gathered to appreciate the profound art with Longhua characteristics.
“The Dragon Boat Festival Celebration in Luohu, the Sci-Tech Innovation of Shenzhen” High-level Foreign Talents’ Exchange Activity
On June 20, 2023, hosted by the Science, Technology, and Innovation Commission of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs), “The Dragon Boat Festival Celebration in Luohu, the Sci-Tech Innovation of Shenzhen” High-level Foreign Talents’ Exchange Activity was held in Luohu District. Twelve foreign talents from countries including the United States, Italy, and Russia, were invited to appreciate the beauty of Luohu and celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival.
In the second half of 2023, we will continue to launch a rich diversity of themed activities for foreign talents to promote exchange, interaction, and cultural integration among international talents.
