Foreign Experts Discovering the Allure of Sci-Tech Innovation

On October 24, the Foreign Experts South China Tour, hosted by the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, and jointly organized by the Science, Technology and Innovation Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs), the School of Atmospheric Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University(SYSU), and the Shenzhen Center for International Exchange of Personnel (SCIEP), unfolded in Shenzhen. The event gathered over ten top foreign experts from universities and research institutions across Asia and Europe to visit Tencentheadquarters. They gained firsthand insight into the innovative drive and developmental achievements of Shenzhen's high-tech enterprises, while engaging in technical exchanges and exploring potential collaboration opportunities.

During the event, the delegation of foreign experts toured Tencent's headquarters exhibition hall, technological innovation display zone, corporate social responsibility practice display zone, and the Image cultural & creative café space. The experts spoke highly of Shenzhen's sci-tech innovation ecosystem, noted that Tencent’s innovative applications in digital technology were particularly impressive, and emphasized that the deep integration of technology with real-world scenarios offered fresh perspectives for future transnational research collaboration. Gaining critical insight into Shenzhen’s innovation pace, theexperts expressed eagerness to facilitate long-term cooperation between their respective institutions and Shenzhen-based enterprises and research entities.

A representative from the Science, Technology and Innovation Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality (Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs) stated that the Shenzhen session of the Foreign Experts South China Tour represents a concrete step toward enhancing sci-tech collaboration with high-level overseas talents. By inviting foreign experts to visit leading high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen, this event not only facilitated precise matchmaking between Chinese and international innovation resources, but also injected new international vitality into the sci-tech advancement of Shenzhen and the broader Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Moving forward, the Bureau will continue to optimize services for foreign experts, promote in-depth engagement between international talents and Shenzhen’s innovation ecosystem, and further strengthen the international dynamism of the Greater Bay Area’s sci-tech development.
